Hospital day 3 - New day

ENAND

The day went way too fast. Familiar fact within the hospital. Everything races past you and suddenly you have missed several stops.Gideon does have a hard time. He is not allowed out of bed and he is not allowed to eat or drink. Hopefully the tube feeding over the intestines will go well and we can try something more over the stomach tomorrow. But walking around will be out of the question for now.

The day has gone way too fast. Known fact within the hospital. Everything rushes past you and suddenly you've missed some stops.Gideon has it pretty difficult. He has to stay in bed and he may not eat or drink. Hopefully it goes well with the drip-feed over the intestines and tomorrow we can try something more over the stomach. But walking around will still take a while.

Pff, how fast the day goes again. Lots of waiting and lots of visits from doctors. But! We are at the MC and we finally have ice cream! Eating other things isn't in the cards yet, and they are also waiting a while with the tube feeding. But it's a nice start. Gideon is doing well, and the doctors are also very happy.A lot is coming along, a lot has happened and we haven't had much time to unwind. But we are in the process of typing up at least everything surrounding the operation. That will come later. Now a quick (out of Gideon's sight) dinner and a drink because we forgot...

Phew, the day is gone quickly. Lots of waiting and many visits of doctors. But! We're on the MC and we finally have ice cream! No other food yet, and they also want to wait a while with the tube feeding. But it's a good start. Gideon is doing well, and the doctors are very pleased. There is a lot going on, much has happened and had little time to let everything sink in. But we're trying to type down what happened around the operation. That will come later. Now we need to eat (out of sight of Gideon) and drink because we have forgotten to do so....

I slept with Gideon this night and Marieke at the Radboud Hotel and all three of us slept very badly. Gideon had a rough night. Often awake by pain and then asleep again for a while. Only around half past six did he sleep for an hour and a half at a time, and so did I. He was also very thirsty, but he can't drink anything yet. And now he wants an ice cream. Hopefully he will be allowed something on his stomach soon. But for now, the pain seems under control and they are going to see if we can even go back to the MC like this, back to our old little room. One drip has now come out and the rest will hopefully follow a.s.a.p. Now just to recover and get a grip on the day.Yesterday we were grateful that he had survived at all, and now he is pretty much himself. We stand by and watch it happen, but actually it is very special. It's a tough time, but God is good to us.

This night I slept beside Gideon and Marieke at the Radboud Hotel and we all did not sleep well. Gideon has an intense night behind him. Awakened by pain and then slept for a while when the medication kicked in. Only around 6.30am he slept one and a half hour in succession, and so did I. He was also very thirsty, but he still cant drink anything. And now he wants ice cream. Hopefully he can have something stomach by the end of this morning. But for now it seems the pain is under control and they go see if we can go back to the MC, back to our old room. There has been one IV removed and hopefully the rest will follow shortly.Yesterday we were grateful that he had survived the whole ordeal, and now he is almost himself again. We stand by and watch it happen, but actually it's a miracle. It's a tough time, but God is good to us.

Dear treasures, it was wonderful to be able to visit you and Gideon today and witness the miracle of God's faithfulness with our own eyes. He greatly exceeded all our expectations. We were moved to hear that little hero ask when he could play table tennis in the hospital hall again. When the time comes, we will definitely come to watch and cheer!

So recognisable what you write. So grateful for his life, but at the same time seeing your little man still suffering. So grateful for the step to medium care, but at the same time still so many steps to take. Oh yes and then your own food and drink, emotions and fatigue.... Step by step, with the promise of Immanuel, you can handle it dear people. Meanwhile, that brave little face of Gideon with his ice cream makes me very happy. :) Happy that it's allowed again!

Ah dear little man how terrible to have to see you like this. You should be going to school and playing with your friends and not lying in a hospital bed! Hope you recover quickly and forget all this soon! Lots of love from us
